  I’m going to start by saying my blog hasn’t seen me in weeks – ironically - because I’ve been swamped arranging the reopening of my restaurant, Octaves, which has been closed since May 2025. The reopening requires a level of locking in and due diligence you’ll never be able to imagine (unless it’s something you’ve done yourself before). Staff contracts, staff rotas, stock lists, stock runs, compliance, cleaning, admin, social media, web design, menu design… and that’s before I’ve even cooked a damn thing. Okay before I even get into the next chapter, a very particular point has been made to me about this. So I’ll do the disclaimer early on so that we’re all clear.   My story isn’t about Vengeance, it is about Testimony. Vengeance is about repaying harm, Testimony is about releasing truth.   When God says “Vengeance is mine” in Romans 12:19, he is talking about retaliation - the desire to punish, destroy or ‘get even’. Vengeance is rooted in control and in payback.   Telling the truth about what happened to you is not the same thing.   The Bible supports and encourages truth telling and testimony. In previous years I have not set New Years resolutions for myself. For a few reasons. One is that I’m a ‘If you’re going to do it, do it now’ type gal. Anything I want to change in terms of fitness, food, fun, whatever - I do it the day I realise it, and if I don’t do it then I compartmentalise it as ‘well you obviously didn’t want to do it that badly did ya’.   This year feels different though, i feel different.
